A retired Long Island businessman recently commissioned a replica of the ridiculous walk-in closet from Sex and The City (the first movie) for his wife and their North Shore mansion a la Carrie Bradshaw. The woman’s 400 sq. ft. guest bedroom was converted into a feature-film worthy closet by SATC set designer Lydia Marks for the low low price of $175,000. (Direct quote: “And it was worth every penny…they made my dream come true!”)
The closet looks a little something like this:
• storage for 400 shoes (“The shoe cabinet is very similar to Carrie’s, although our client’s is much bigger.”)
• hand-beveled mirror strips (“They add a bit of glitz into the glossy white closet, while maintaining the charm of a Park Avenue penthouse.”)
• frosted glass doors with etched Art Deco patterning
• custom-sized compartments “to accommodate specific hair dryers, curling irons and flat irons”
“It was a gift from her husband, who led the charge to get this closet built for his wife because he knew how happy it would make her. His wife, like Carrie, is a smart and successful career woman in her own right.”
