We all want to know what or who inspired John Galliano‘s show at the Opera Comique. Birds are telling me that it was con artist extraordinaire Maria Lani from the Twenties who convinced (ahem, scammed) over fifty leading artists of the day (including Matisse) to paint her portrait and then would flee with the paintings in tow.
