At the start of the Dolce & Gabbana show, we were presented with a short film that flashed the words “sartoria, bianco, corredo, ombre, mediterraneo”; the English translation of “tailoring, white, outfit, shades, Mediterranean” is not quite so beautiful. It all took place in an incredible plastered showspace and was very, very white. The models mostly wore beach-brushed braids and gold hoops, trickling out from backstage in a staggered routine and showing us a glorious collection of Milan Fashion Week pieces suitable for the wardrobe of a lady like Serena van der Woodsen – carefree and capable of easy glamour.
