I may be the ultimate lazypants when it comes to wearing make-up but I always make time for lip colour. A bare face looks ever so purposeful when paired with a chic lip (believe me, I’ve done my research) and it is my yearly mission to seek out the latest and greatest lip products on the market.
This Summer, I advise you get your hands on the following:
Carmex Moisture Plus Berry sheer tint – This is probably the least colourful tint I will mention, but leaves a gorgeous lip-bitten colour. With Vitamin E, Aloe, Shea Butter and SPF 15, it is a faultless handbag staple.
Balance Me Shine On tinted lip salve in Nude – This salve feels like a spa treatment for the lips. In the formula, you have organic shea, mango, cocoa butter, rosehip, jojoba, and virgin coconut oil (swoon!) while the colour is naturally created with mica pigment. It glides on like water and – as a purple-toned nude – would suit any skin tone.
Lanolips Lip Ointment with Colour & Lemonaid Lip Aid – The Lip Ointment with Colour is heavier and glossier than ‘Shine On’ but has ridiculous staying power. I have been loyal to the formula for over a year (in Rhubarb) but have recently cheated on the colour with their dusty pink, Rose – the ultimate nude.
As well as the new colour, I’ve got my hands on their Lemonaid Lip Aid for the first time and regret not trialling it sooner. The product is a blend of creamy treatment balm and natural exfoliant (thanks to the addition of organic lemon oil) and is addictively fresh. It is Lanolin-glossy, glitter ball-shimmery, and even makes your lips tingle. A win.
Avon Ultra Colour Indulgence SPF 15 lipsticks: pictured left to right – Day Lilly (red), Honey Flower (nude), Plum Verbena (dark purple) – When it comes to serious colour, these lipsticks have been my shock favourite. Unlike a lot of pigmented lipsticks I own, they are extraordinarily comfortable on the lips and so moisturising they almost make lips look…juicy (an awkward but necessary word). Plum Verbena, in particular, is a 90s lip godsend.
