…and so it begins! Two weeks ago I threw my gorgeous man onto a plane and convinced him to embark on a US road trip from Indiana to New York with me. While he has travelled to China and beyond, this happened to be his first trip to America (and, notably, Taco Bell).
Indiana may not be a popular choice for US excursions – understandably so – but it was the perfect spot for us to beat jet lag*, reunite with and introduce him to my best friends/family…all while sharing a snippet of my starred and striped heritage.
Our four days there were spent zipping around town in a Car del Mar beauty (so easy for international car hire!), breakfasting at 3 Sisters Cafe (faves of the Food Network – their lemon corncakes will change your life), visiting the amazing kids at the Indiana School for the Blind, making 1am trips to explore Wal-Mart, w-w-werking that exchange rate out at the malls, getting acquainted with Indy’s best sushi, and taking trip upon trip down memory lane with a group of ladies I miss more and more by the second.
Also, new tattoos. But more on that later.
*Whether you’ve flown in on business class or not, sleeping on the floor of JFK for your connecting flight will knock the life out of you.
