Why some people love it cold and rainy
It seems like that there are many moments in Winter where I feel there are never enough clothes to keep me warm. At the same time, I probably get most excited about fashion during the Winter. Despite it being icy and cold outside, many of us seem to be thankful for winter. Even though we all appreciate summertime temperatures – the best season for fashion to really throw us something new is Winter. I know many of my friends love the idea of being wrapped up and embracing the challenge of layers and the many ways they could mix and match while still being a trendsetter.
Wintertime Basics
Of course, there are basics everyone should have in their closets in order to stay warm and still keep it classy. The unsung heroes during winter are always socks. Sure, they are there for function, but so are all clothes! How about showing your appreciation by making them a ‘statement’ this season? Whether they happen to be thick a woolen pair or have a statement print, it is one way to keep things fun. I personally love a long sock peeking out of a wellie. The latest practical Hunter wellies on Zalando prove that the boots are not just for farmers anymore.
Asking ‘why wellies in winter?’ is a bit of a no-brainer with the rain in full swing. Britain’s iconic rubber boot have transformed over the years to look appealing for the everyday city slicker whilst preventing the unsettling feeling of wet feet. Hunter also have socks made for wellingtons that are fashionable, warm and won’t have you feeling ashamed when asked to remove your shoes at their friends’ place.
I think my favourite basic for this season – especially now that snowstorms have hit – has to be ombre pullovers. Ranging from ecru to all shades of brown, they are the trendiest way to matching the beautiful hues of Winter. For full-on style, they can be combined with white trousers and a dark brown coat to provoke a strong contrast and escape the visual boredom of ‘Winter black-on-black’. When choosing to wear jeans in combination, glossy light brown wellies would keep things unique and act as a utilitarian cherry on top!
