This week, everyone and anyone in the media eye seemed to have congregated to one location:, the annual Met Costume Institute Gala (or “Met Gala“). This year, the Vogue-created ball celebrated the life and work of the late, great Alexander McQueen and ended up raising $10.8 million for the Costume Institute.
While thirteen McQueen gowns were worn, the best of the red carpet best are below:
Diane Kruger wore a dual colour Jason Wu Fall/Winter 2011 dress, Jimmy Choo ‘Lina’ clutch and black peep-toes.
Shalom Harlow wore my much-obsessed-over, laser cut Marchesa gown from Spring/Summer 2011. Couldn’t have picked a better model to bring it to the red carpet.
Leighton Meester wore Cathy Waterman earrings, a strapless Louis Vuitton LBD with matching cut-out Fall/Winter 2011 heels, and black clutch.
Blake Lively wore a draped Chanel Fall/Winter 2009 Couture collection dress with an embroidered silver pailette and illusion bodice, with Christian Louboutin ‘Anna’ heels.
Sarah Jessica Parker was fortunate enough to wear an archive look from Alexander McQueen‘s Fall/Winter 2005 collection.
Ciara wore an ombre, silver and ivory Fall/Winter Prabal Gurung organza and silk chiffon gown. The cuff was a perfect addition.
Daphne Guinness wore a feathered Alexander McQueen creation with exaggerated hips from Spring/Summer 2011. She paired it with silver, heeled Mary Janes.
Christina Ricci wore a custom Zac Posen mermaid frock that could have easily been confused for McQueen, with Fred Leighton jewels as the cherry on top.
Miranda Kerr wore an embroidered, strapless flared design (destined to be my future wedding dress) with draped silk tulle overlay, created by Marchesa. Heels were Nicholas Kirkwood white booties.
