Let’s get the model list out of the way for “Gangs of New York” in February’s issue of Vogue, shall we?
Julia Saner, Anna de Rijk, Frida Gustavsson, Monika Jagaciak, Kate Somers, Julia Hafstrom, Julia Johansen, Luisa Bianchin, Chantal Stafford-Abobott, Donna Loos, Gwen Loos, Patricia van der Vilet, Mirte Maas, Nimue Smit, Arizona Muse, Jacquelyn Jablonski, Kendra Spears, Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, Ajak Deng, Arlenis Sosa Peña, Chanel Iman, Anais Mali, Jourdan Dunn, Sessilee Lopez, Jana Knauerova, Hannah Holman, Britt Maren, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Kasia Struss, So Young Kang, Hyoni Kang, Tao Okamoto, Fei Fei Sun, and Ming Xi.
That is an impressive group that can only tickle my fashion heart further as it was shot by Mario Testino and styled by Grace Coddington. Only complaint is the lack of ethnic variation. Is there a certain reason that the black and asian models are completely segregated from the white models? As much as a fully-Asian shot of Proenza Schouler appeals to me, it’s trite exclusion has dulled the collection visually.
