Steve Madden (aka sometimes cute, sometimes fatal) is being sued by Zooey Deschanel for $2 million over a breached agreement in which Madden was to endorse a “Zooey shoes and accessories” line (the price is the deal plus interest and legal fees). The lawsuit has been filed under a “breach of contract” and reports that her agent secured a deal for her – which was subsequently reduced to $1.5 million – that would allow the footwear company to use her name and image for said line. The complaint alleges that on 13th October, Steve Madden “breached and repudiated” the new deal without explanation and refused to pay. Deschanel was told she would be paid regardless of whether the line came to fruition…which it obviously hasn’t.
