Oh, I hate it when a designer falls below my expectations. In all honesty, Georges Chakra is one of my favourites; his one-off designs for beautiful women like Rihanna, Carrie Underwood, and Beyoncé being the best example of his raw talent. Unfortunately, for New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011, we were given a shapeless lime evening dress with a horrible bustline that I never want to see again.
It definitely wasn’t all bad. Some of the dresses were phenomenal, innovative, and had the attention to detail that we all love Chakra for (see metallic brown dress below). Some of the others? Destined for the prom dress sale rack.
