Roberto Cavalli marked his 40th year in business by holding his Milan Fashion Week show under the Peace Arch in a tented greenhouse. The model cast alone was worth a stream – Natalia Vodianova opened, followed by Erin Wasson, Karolina Kurkova, and others, until Laetitia Casta closed. He delivered what I can only expect The Runaways would wear if they were into couture. Cavalli was clearly a nostalgic ode to Florentine handcraft. The details weren’t to be believed, – chiffon seamlessly worked with leather and animal spots made from pale sequin embroideries – reminding us that Roberto was the designer who elevated leathers, animal prints, fringe and feathers to high fashion.
